Consumer price index (CPI) rose 2.7% since November, while the Fed's preferred measure, the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index, showed a reading of 2.4% (Sources: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Bureau of Economic Analysis)
Employment remains strong with 227,000 jobs created and an unemployment rate of 4.2%, which remains below historical trends (Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)
As a reminder, the Fed's dual mandate is a healthy labor market and 2% inflation. As you can see, we continue to make progress towards the 2% level.

Retirement Contribution Updates: As shared in our November newsletter, 2025 brings new retirement savings opportunities. The standard 401(k) contribution limit has increased to $23,500, and eligible employees aged 60-63 may have access to enhanced catch-up contributions of up to $11,250 (Source: USA Today). Remember to review and adjust your contribution levels accordingly.
